2/10/2008 | Eco-Action held the first Sustainable House Bus Tour on Kangaroo Island on September 13, the national day for such events. A highly successful day for about 40 people who visited four houses, each showing different aspects of sustainability.

2/10/2008 | POLICE NEWS - On September 22 police reported a MacGillivray man for trafficking in a controlled substance. Police arrested a Penneshaw man on September 22 for serious criminal trespass and theft from a property in Penneshaw. He was placed on bail and will appear in court.

Communications manager Kevin Naughton said the recent Cabinet shuffle had been designed to put more focus on the water issue.

Anne defies probability to win State prize
25/09/2008 | Anne van der Giessen, a Year 12 student at Kingscote campus, won the Cadena-Foster Prize for her Probability project entry in the SA Mathematics Talent Quest. She was awarded her prize of $150 at a ceremony in Adelaide, by the Mathematical Association of SA.
Bus drivers sidelined after 20 years
25/09/2008 | Volunteer bus drivers Viv Willson and Val Lockett have finished their run after more than 20 years at the wheel. The passenger services to Parndana and Penneshaw provided by the Cook Centre have now been given to a private contractor, KI Transfers.

19/09/2008 | Jack Elsegood was born on Kangaroo Island to Olive Mabel and Frederick Charles. On leaving school at 12 to help support the family because of his father’s ill health he worked at many jobs including at the Salt Lakes scraping, butchering meat like his father and loading salt onto trains. When Jack was 18 during the Depression, he and his brother-in-law Bill Cooksley rode their bicycles to Broken Hill seeking work.
