Get your Classics out for the big day

25/09/2008 2:25:00 PM
This year’s Kangaroo Island Motorfest will be yet another fun day out for all the family. It will be held at the popular venue of the Kingscote Golf Club on Saturday October 11.

We all know there are many classic cars hidden away on Kangaroo Island, in sheds and under tarps and we urge you to get them out, shine them up and enter them in our Show n’ Shine Competition.

For all car enthusiasts on the Island who put their vehicle in for judging in the ‘Show n’ Shine’ there is an island-only award. This is open to Island-owned and registered vehicles and is sponsored by Connell Motors.

Vehicles also being judged are also eligible for the ‘Best of Show Award’ and this award is sponsored by Nepean Motors. Once again the Shannon’s ‘Peoples Choice Award’ will be presented and this award is open to all vehicles on display on the day.

If you do not want to be involved in the judging, you can enter your vehicle as ‘Display Only’ be in the Parade to the Golf Club display your vehicle and just relax and enjoy the day.

Once again the ever-popular event that was trialed last year will be run again – ‘The Burn Out Competition’. This will be a static event on a specially prepared concrete slab and will be sponsored by, of course, Turners Tyre Service.

So register now by calling Wayne Riley (see advert) and come along and make some smoke!! The crowd favourite – ‘Rocker Cover Racing’ sponsored by Riley’s Concrete with cash prizes is sure to be watched with interest.

Entertainment for children includes face painting, balloon twisting, treasure hunt, sandpit, a raffle prize for a girl and a boy just to name a few.

Also this year we have a few stall holders who are coming along to display some of their talented work. Music and entertainment will be ably provided by DJ Dave Neighbour and an auction of a great selection of goods and services will be conducted by auctioneers Paul Clifford and Colin Hopkins.

The Golf Club bar will be open and as for the food - there will be a sizzling barbecue and other goodies to compliment the variety of delicious taste tempters on offer for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea served by volunteers of the KI Motor Club. There is sure to be something to please everyone.

Due to generous sponsorship, entry once again is a gold coin donation. For more information go to www.kimotorfest.org.au.
