KINGSCOTE LADIES
Pennants: Round One played at Kingscote 21st June. Teams of eight ladies from Parndana and Kingscote enjoyed the match play golf. Three ladies, Jen Trethewey, Jean Dennis and Leonie Florance all played well in their first Pennant experience.
Kingscote won five games to Parndana two with one game drawn.
Round 2 was at Parndana 28th August. Once again the new players acquitted themselves well. They each won their games, Leonie with the biggest margin of the day. Jen was the only player to win on both days.
Parndana won five games to Kingscote three. Thursday, Kingscote won the 2008 pennant by one game.
THURSDAY GOLF. 14th August. Twelve ladies played Par in lovely weather with some golf to match. Gwenda Ball was 8-up and broke her handicap from 28 to 25 and Judy Bell was 5-up.
Judy won Div 1 and Heather Gray was runner-up with 2-up. Gwenda won Div 2 and Hilde Paepke was runner-up with 1-down. Gwenda was nearest the pin on nine and when you’re on form even luck runs your way as she won the wheel as well! Eileen was nearest the pin on 17. Eileen had a birdie and a chip-in on six, Heather a birdie on 3 and Judy had birdies on 11 and six.
21st August Another Par, just to keep us on our toes! 14 ladies played in rain and hail, but that didn’t bother Heather Gray. She was 6-up. Heather broke from 19 to 18.
Heather won Div 1 and runner-up was Ann Turbill with 2-up. Leanne Parker won Div 2 with 1-up and Leonie Florance was runner-up with 3-down. Leonie was playing on her new handicap after breaking 45 to 43 on Tuesday at Parndana. Gwenda Ball was nearest the pin on 6 and Ashley Blucher on 14 - a lovely hit, Ashley. Chip-ins to Joy Florance on 7, Ashley on 8 and Sue Speck and Hilde Paepke on 14.
