Perfect scores as super Lucy steals the show

25/09/2008 2:32:00 PM
Two perfect scores graced our last meeting, Lucy Kempster scoring 100 in Juniors, Bob ‘Grizzly’ Cronin the same in KTs while 125’s saw a tie at the top with both Steve Kempster and Jack Buick racking up 89 points.

Jack’s day began badly with a DNS in race 1, won by the frenetic Fred ‘The Fang’ Bell in his fat and fiery outlaw.

The former farmer was also fairly far up in the points with 84.

After six heats and some great racing a tie was a fitting result, as Steve, Jack, Fred and Phil Tonkin all scored wins, Barnesy the only steerer to miss out.

Juniors was the Lucy Show.

Sam Kempster won the first race, Connor Hall second when Lucy failed to finish, but it was the dicing damsel’s day after that, scorching the next five.

Connor did well to be second outright, Sam was also quick but suffered a couple of DNR’s, while all three are top of the table for season’s honours.

KTs were even more of a whitewash as Bob Cronin hurled the number 56 around the track to win every race.

His domination was such that of the 48 laps completed, he led for 35 of them.

Peter Lock was looking up his tailpipe for five second places and second outright, Steve Zealand steered the Karla Sugars number 17 into third, Danielle Barnes scored three third places early but sat it out after that.

With one championship round remaining, a look at the table sees Locky on top in KTs. James Ridley in striking distance and Bob the Bearded bounding into contention.

Steve Kempster looks safe from Phil Tonkin in 125s, but third spot will be keenly fought over between Darren Barnes, Gavin and Jack Buick.

One round left, Sunday October 12. Bathhurst Day? That might change. It’s a day for firm decisions. Or is it?

Don’t forget the working bee this Sunday to get the track back on track. Meanwhile, remember there is no ‘I’ in team, but there are four in ‘platitude quoting idiot!’
