First Semi-Final at Western Districts on Sunday
A Grade
Dudley United v
Western Districts
Good conditions for football greeted players in the A grade clash; considering recent rains the Western Districts Committee presented the oval in excellent condition.
Western Districts won the toss and kicked with the aid of a brisk southwesterly breeze. Youngster B Lock opened with an accurate snap, Sam Howard levelled for Dudley. R Morris marked and goaled, and a magnificent long goal from S Rowsell had the Saints looking like dominating the game. Inaccuracy late in the term by Western Districts kept Dudley in touch at quarter time. The second term saw Gurney in ruck against Joraslafsky, a long kick from S Rowsell saw Rick Morris mark and goal into the wind. Bowd was playing well for Dudley, using his pace and excellent foot skills. He passed to Neville Clark who scored Dudley's second. Dudley were on top in the next period of play with goals to B Wilson, B Howard and two to C Willson.
Western Districts had most of the play in the third, but poor disposal into attack enabled Dudley's defence to hold him. The Eagles M Buick scored Dudley's only goal for the quarter, while S Morgan and Joraslafsky scored for Western Districts.
The last quarter saw veteran T Weatherspoon mark and goal, followed by a goal to Whale which gave Western Districts an eight-point lead and a good chance to score an upset win. Dudley steadied a good snap to C Willson the next two to B Wilson saw Dudley ease away, eventually winning by 16 points.
The Russian Mafia, based on the Gold Coast have taken over the lucrative betting market on the final series. They have installed Parndana favourites at 8/10, Kingscote are 25/10 with Dudley ballooning to 10/1 after failing to dispose of the geriatric Western Districts body properly on Sunday.

Parndana v Wisanger
Wisanger won the toss and started with the aid of a south westerly breeze. Both teams opened well with players coping well with the increased intensity and pressure of finals football.
Parndana's S Dennis opened the scoring after receiving an excellent pass from S Gaskin. Wisanger quickly answered with C Treloar kicking a good goal from the dead forward pocket. T Sugars goaled for Parndana, one to W Ducrou of Wisanger left the scores level at quarter time. Parndana's turn with the wind saw veterans Kelly and Gaskin scoring, with J Fryer scoring the next for Wisanger. The next period of play was tough and hard with both teams persistently attacking through the dead flank, making scoring much more difficult.
Wisanger started the last quarter holding a one point lead, Parndana in attack constantly but unable to goal. In accurate kicking saw Parndana score four points for the quarter, while Wisanger's only foray into attack resulted in a point, which left Parndana in front at the final siren by three points.
It was an exciting hard fought game, played in great spirit by both teams.

Parndana v Kingscote
Parndana squared the ledger with Kingscote for season's honours after a comfortable nine goal win at the Chookhouse.
Kingscote won the toss but it was the Roosters who struck in the opening minute, Nathan Trethewey kicking the goal into a strong breeze.
Another soon followed before Luke Stewart answered to put the Hounds on the scoreboard. Simon Windsor slotted another at the Northern end to unsettle the Hounds but they rallied, used the breeze to advantage and hit back with a couple of their own. When a Dan Taylor mark relayed to Boomer Stewart and on to Scotty Walden in the square, the Dogs were in front at the change four goals straight to 3/1.
Parndana came out firing in the second, with quick hands out of the middle and accurate kicks to space. With Windsor, Michael Mills and an elusive Mark Gilbert dominating the southern end, the Roosters rattled on six unanswered goals, ably fed by Shane Matthews and Damien Trethewey.
The Dogs finally worked the ball forward for Luke Ramsey to score after the siren, but they were in trouble, and more so after the break.
Ruckman Thomas Smith came off with an elbow injury, Gilbert drilled another goal before an errant kick across the face was snatched by the high leaping Westbrook who duly converted.
Once again the Hounds rallied, Dustin Curtis giving his all to win some much needed centre breaks. A strong bump from Walden allowed a kick into the forward 50, Scud Ramsey making the most of the opportunity for a goal. Another from the boundary was sharked well by Zak Edwards for the same result, leaving the Hounds five goals in arrears at three quarter time but still in with a sniff.
It was soon snuffed.
Putland found Mills in the first minute of the last to increase Parndana's lead, the wind picked up, the drizzle came down, Windsor kicked truly and the Roosters were home, having been first to the contest, tackling hard, making space and finishing well.
Kingscote struggled to find a winner in any position, Hayden Matthews one of their best at half back and Jesse Wilkinson and Leroy Johnson trying hard, but the Roosters were too good on the day.
